„Get inside our heads!“
The world of Demonticons
We are puzzled guys, grumpy and full of emotions, we fall apart, we are Demonticons. A blend of words emoticon and demount. Each of us have our own dreams, hobbies and story which is complete only after you get inside our head. Our stories contain a word combination that is also a clue to solve our mysteries and dreams. On this page you can see our family tree and understand more about our relationships and life goals. You can notice that all women have a name beginning with the letter S and all men with the letter Z.
CREATORS
Doog
Originally from a farm in New Zealand, I now live in the French Alps with my wife Laura.
My working life has always revolved around engineering and construction. Everything from farm machinery and houses to super yachts.
I always make time for my sporting endeavours, but if I’m not skiing, climbing or mountain biking, you’ll find me in my tiny workshop.
From here I design and build puzzles and puzzle boxes under the name doogaloogames.
I love creating fun, mind bending challenges and hope to do this forever.
Radek
I come from a beautiful Czech village in the foothills of the Giant Mountains.
I studied Mechanical Engineering and I have been doing it since high school. Over time it has become my main job and life hobby.
I don’t only design traditional Czech puzzles, but also a variety of new concepts.
My production is proudly based around eye catching presentation, attention to detail and precision engineering.
RADEMIC PUZZLES, established in 2005, is named after its founder, Radek Micopulos.
Our collaboration
In 2020 Doog miniaturised one of his box mechanisms and made several aluminium cube puzzles. That would probably have been the end of the story but he was given NEMO for his birthday. (NEMO is one of Radek’s flagship puzzles) Doog immediately thought that if Radek was able to manufacture with these processes and precision, then maybe his cube could be produced.
Doog sent a copy to Radek who enjoyed the solve very much but commented that cubes had been used a lot in other puzzles. He suggested a smiley type form and there you go…Ziggy was born.
In general terms, Doog designs the mechanisms while Radek takes care of the aesthetics and production. But like all good collaborations, the reality is nowhere near that black and white. There is a constant stream of communication to the point where sometimes nobody knows the origin of certain ideas.
REVIEWS
„An excellent little puzzle guaranteed to make puzzlers smile, first at the major “A-ha!!” moment, and then at the sight that greets you at the end of the solve.“ Allard Walker

„I like Ziggy a lot, it’s not too hard but a cool mechanism I haven’t really seen done. Great to share with newer puzzlers.“ rsinatra
„Whilst I just have the ZIGGY puzzle with @doogaloogames creativity, I had the pleasure getting to know him personally in Prague and besides he and fiance are super kind, he also explained the background to ZIGGY with the ccoperation together with Radek and showed of some of his current projects. Awesome ideas and great quality work for sure.“ DoubleK
„Ziggy is cool kinda like a beginner SD – not that hard but great to share and show people what a mechanical puzzle is.“ rsinatra
„Ziggy has been solved, reset, and understood Fun solve. Something different. Excellent craftsmanship!“ ThinkingFin
„Solved Ziggy, I like it! Made quick progress at first but then hit a wall. Took me a good 20-30 minutes to figure it out, very clever! Plus it looks nice and is precision quality metal.“ Josiah1221

„Just got my Stella — this is such a well-machined piece. Absolutely love this.“ Marktheshark
„Stella solved! Definitely the harder puzzle when compared to Ziggy in my opinion. Build quality and feel is great, and it’s also less likely to draw blood like Ziggy. I liked it and love the colour.“ CountryTurns
„Way different than Ziggy and a step up! Super cool mechs. Surprising and made me laugh when I got it open“ rsinatra
„As you’d expect from Radek, the machining on the puzzly side of things is sublime and the aesthetics are gorgeous – everyone is going to love those googly eyes!“ Allard Walker

„For me, they are beatiful paperweights! Someday maybe I’ll solve one, at which point they’ll also be excellent puzzles 🙂 They sure do look and feel nice though, and they definitely keep my papers from blowing around.“ Brett
„I love the fact that these puzzles look great on the outside, provide a decent challenge and then give you an extra reward when you finally crack them open. Once again, the machining and finish is seriously top-notch.“ Allard Walker
